The National Oceanography Centre is opening its doors to mark 100 years since the founding of the Liverpool Tidal Institute, a key development in the history of the Centre, the City of Liverpool and the study of our oceans.

We are holding a public open afternoon giving you a rare opportunity to take a close look at some of the current research and technology that helps us make sense of changing seas, from coast to deep ocean, across the globe.

Come along to meet the people behind the science and find out more through displays and activities. You’ll also be able to see two historic tidal prediction machines as part of the onsite ‘Tide and Time’ Exhibition.

The event is free to attend, however, you must register for one of the time slots available.

Places are limited, please arrive promptly at your allocated timeslot. We anticipate guests will spend up to 45 minutes on site. We look forward to welcoming you to the NOC.

Planning your Journey

We encourage the use of public transport as we are only ten minutes walk from Lime St Station and bus routes serving Brownlow Hill or London road are also a short distance away. For directions to site please see http://noc.ac.uk/about-us/contact-us

If you are intending to drive to the event, please note parking is extremely limited around Brownlow Street, and is chargeable. Further details on parking nearby the National Oceanography Centre can be found here: https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/maps/visiting/car-parking/

Data Protection Information: The data collected from ticket registration will be used for the event registration purposes only and will be deleted after 12 months.
