Liverpool & Sefton Chamber’s flagship Young Chamber school, Archbishop Blanch CE High School held their latest Careers Convention on Wednesday 6th February.

There was excellent support from local partners with over 100 exhibitors in the “Market Place”. These included employers, further education colleges and universities, career information stands and charities all promoting opportunities for training and volunteering as well as exploring future career options. The event also allowed students to “Meet the Professionals” on a one to one basis giving them a unique and personal perspective.

As well as the main convention, there were two additional workshops covering ‘Life in 6th Form’ and ‘So you want to go to Uni?’ which was delivered by the amazing Shaping Futures Team, providing students with essential information about applying and attending University.

Helen Rimmer, Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) Lead said: ”We are so grateful to all our visitors who gave their time on the day and special thanks to our colleagues in Liverpool and Sefton Chamber for all their support. We really value the time given to our students and the personal contact they gained with company representatives was invaluable. It was a great way to get insight into different industries, ask any questions they may have, learn more about their company culture and to find out what they expect from job applications.”

Paul Cherpeau, CEO, Liverpool and Sefton Chamber of Commerce said: ”Today has been an excellent day on so many levels. It is encouraging to see so many businesses here, talking to young people and hopefully widening career horizons and aspirations. Businesses need to engage with young people if we are to address the growing skills gap and we are delighted to support Archbishop Blanch in the excellent work they do to inspire and motivate their students”.
