The suicide rate in the UK remains staggeringly high and is the biggest killer of men under 50.

The Chamber of Commerce is calling on its business members and wider stakeholders to give staff 20 minutes on Wednesday, 10 October - World Mental Health Day - to complete the Zero Suicide Alliance’s (ZSA) free suicide prevention and awareness online training course.

Produced by Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust and Relias UK and endorsed by the City Region Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram, the ZSA training will give insight, support and guidance about this difficult topic using expertise from clinicians and those who have lived experience of suicide.

In the most recent Samaritans’ Suicide statistics report, it confirmed over 100 people a week took their own lives on average in 2017, with each tragic death profoundly affecting friends, family and work colleagues.

We rarely undertake campaigns which may disrupt ordinary business practice but feel this cause is too important to ignore.

We hope your business can give 20 minutes on 10 October. It won’t kill you. It may even save a life.

We are holding a Health and Work; a spotlight on mental health - Taster Session event on Thursday 11th October. Click here to find out more. (This event is for members only.
